Originally, the services here at MiniBlogs.co.uk was setup to appeal to domainers looking to monetise their domains beyond parking. However, mini blogs can be used for many purposes. For example, buying keyword rich, long tail domains, adding a blog and a bit of content, then selling to businesses that could use the traffic.

Here’s a basic example: Personal Injury Solicitors Manchester

The idea is to use a keyword rich domain, rank the site to page 1 of google, then sell to a business that is on page 3 or beyond. This way businesses on a page other than the first page of Google can benefit from the traffic to their main site. This can be very beneficial for businesses who either don’t want, or can’t afford, to hire (expensive) SEO services.

So, there are many ways to use a mini blog that can be helpful to businesses as well as earn you a few bucks/pounds in the process.

This is a brief post today and one that is loooong overdue!

I am in the process of creating several sites that will help with websites either designed by MiniBlogs.co.uk or products and services that will appeal to the masses whether domainers or those seeking to drive more traffic and earn more money with their sites and domains.

For example, if you want to increase your brand awareness in a time effective manner, you should check out Tube Detonator

I am excited to not only provide website related products in the near future such as wordpress “mini site” themes, ie something more related to sales pages which can work extremely well for domains, but also graphic and SEO related products and sites that will appeal to almost every internet marketer.

That’s all for now…stay tuned!

I’ve decided to update this post with another new and exciting service, especially for SMEs who may be missing out on mobile traffic. You can view my new site at http://www.mobileready.co.uk to get an idea of what I’m offering. Essentially, if your website is not properly optimised for mobile browsers (98% aren’t) then why not get a .mobi domain and have a mobile optmised website? Even on an iphone your site will shrink down to be able to view the entire site but imagine how small that will be? So, with the iPhone in particular, you decide to zoom in, fair enough. Now you can read the content, see images etc. but what if your contact details (or any other important information) are at the footer or in some obscure location then you’re scrolling left/right, up/down, from a mobile trying to get to essential information. Remember, mobile users searching for a business don’t want to have to scan all around when bandwidth and battery life may be limited.

Also, not all mobile phones are smart phones or have an intelligent browser like an iPhone. Essentially, mobile websites need to be simple, less graphics, intuitive navigation that’s easy to find, use xhtml MP markup, and so on. Pages should load fast and preferrably each page should be 20kb in total markup (including html, images, css). Remember, until everyone owns a smart phone or until all smart phones can render PC based websites perfectly, you’ll need to consider the millions of other mobile phones that have small screen sizes and inferior browser technology.

Have a look at MobileReady.co.uk and if you have any quesitons, let me know.

Starting a challenge project:

A colleague of mine (who has also ordered miniBlogs in the past) and I are working on a small project that involves the concept of the miniNetworks here at miniblogs.co.uk.

I won’t divulge exactly what we’re doing, or how we’re going to do it, but I can say that I’m excited to see the results. It’s probably nothing earth-shatteringly new but we’re focusing on these elements:

Quick build of a small test group of blogs, between 5 and 20

Hosting them on multiple IP hosting accounts

Populating them with unique content (important!)

Using product feeds, Adsense, affiliate banners to monetise each domain

Domains are keyword and niche related

No more than 3 days to have all blogs uploaded, content added, and monetised

Short term goal is to earn x-amount by mid-April with monthly/quarterly goals to earn x-amount. If we hit this mark, we will commence another test/challenge by scaling using the same techniques. One goal is to build these quickly yet keep these sites sharp, professional, unique, non-spammy (also important) and monetised within a few days.

I will document our progress only in vague terms until we evaluate lessons learned / money earned. I strongly believe in the miniNetwork concept so hopefully these challenges will validate the power of networking your domains/sites.

{ Update – Day 1 }

Thought I’d update this post instead of creating a new one. This “project” is more about a simple documentation of an exercise in networking multilple mini blogs that could be part of one’s domain portfolio, or entirely new domains built up to be monetised as well as drive traffic to a main site.

Today’s I was able to install 10 blogs. Tomorrow I’ll tweak one in order to apply to a few affiliate programs. Once accepted I’ll finish the rest of the blogs, prep each one to populate with feeds/products, add articles, SEO each blog, submit sitemaps, gather links, rinse and repeat.

Will update tomorrow. Busy this wekeend so hopefully will make good progress before Monday.

Cheers

miniBlogs.co.uk is nearly finished!

There are just a few things I need to finish up but the service is pretty much ready.

I’ve been advised that my prices are too low and from research I’m starting to think the same. However, for now I’m going to stick with these prices so if anyone has questions, now’s the time to ask.

I believe I mentioned in my last post I too use “miniBlogs” to create nice looking, SEO optimized sites quickly and I have taken a few approaches in the past. I’ve built pure content sites targetting longtail finance keywords, for example, and done pretty well considering time spent and ROI. I’m also testing out a script that populates blogs with affiliate products from a CSV file. I haven’t yet had time to push that script hard but that’s another potential great way to monetise a miniBlog. The downsides to it in my opinion are that I would like it to not post all products in one go, ie time-stamp each post, use some sort of API that checks on price changes and updates each post and so on. However, with affiliate companies like Affiliate Window and Amazon with their content widgets, a script like the above may be redundant. Then again, if you had a post with keywords optimized for that longtail product name then you should fare better in the SEs, right?

As soon as I can, I’m going to find a programmer and start to develop my script idea(s) so stay tuned!

When I say my goal is to make miniBlogs a place that domainers and SEOs (anyone really) can come to monetise domains, I mean it. Obviously, the more people who use the service, share what else they feel they’d need, and the more I experiment with my own sites, the more miniBlogs will be improved upon. I still have ideas that I don’t think are included in most services like my own and I’m excited to see what others think. I’ll be posting about them later.

I should have miniBlogs ready for business by Tuesday next week. Thanks for your patience. As always, please comment or contact me and I’ll get back to you with more info.

Hi, I’m Scott and I run miniBlogs.co.uk.

Hmm…already this is sounding too formal. Right, as you can tell, this miniBlogs site is still “under development”. It’s my goal to create an evocative site so that people will become “curious” as to what miniBlogs.co.uk is all about.

I won’t go into too much with this particular post. However, briefly I’d like to say that miniBlogs is a run on the word “mini sites”. What is a mini site? I always wondered the answer to that question. Seems like that term is pretty popular now though and I’m sure the definition can mean anywhere from a single “holding” page to literally a full blown site. Or am I missing something? It surely can’t have anything to do with size right? Like 8 pixel font, 500 pixels wide? Anyway, this is the stuff I type after spending 2 mind-numbing days trying to get forms and nifty popup bits to function properly on this site. I’m knackered but hey, it’s all good fun

Onward. Borrowing, if you will, from the term “mini sites” I decided to call my service miniBlogs. Why? Well, I know how to fully code and design a site from scratch. I used to only do that actually. Then a couple years ago I came across Wordpress and not only did it allow me to build sites quickly, and I mean QUICKLY compared to hand-coding, but there are so many fantastic (and sometimes frustrating) plugins, tips, and documentation out there that almost anyone could be up and blogging with little to no HTML skills. I know there are plenty of other platforms out there but I think Wordpress is truly one of the most revolutionary to hit the web!

So, mini blogs are just like mini sites only…blogs! But, I’ve seen so many crappy looking mini sites and blogs that I hope I can help people not only monetise their domains but do it in style!

Anyway, I wanted to make this intro brief yet let people know that there’s a real guy behind miniBlogs.co.uk and I hope I can help many of you monetise your domains and/or provide a strategy to help you earn more online! I too build my own miniBlogs and miniNetworks (more on this later) and find it to be quite profitable – albeit with a bit of work.

Depending on how things go, on the overall reception of my services, I plan to add a forum or some sort of platform so that people can share ideas to help each other out.

I won’t just stop at building blogs, I will be offering a link building and content writing service as well as strategic hosting (ie multiple IP hosting) and even have ideas for scripts that can populate people’s sites with affiliate products and so on. I know some of these ideas purely on their own may not be 100% unique but my goal is to provide these “tricks of the trade” under one roof!

Thanks for reading, and if you’d like to know the official launch of miniBlogs please contact me and I’ll keep a list to update you all. Sorry about this archaic method but I’m still working on finding a reliable newsletter management plugin that is compatible with all browsers (damn you Internet Explorer!) lol

Scott
